Only difference is who populates it: With HMS integration - Kudu talks to HMS database directly. -> In this case we need to update the information in the HMS database manually. Without HMS integration - Impala update Kudu entries on Kudu behalf. -> In this case we can either update the HMS database OR have Impala do it by running the ALTER TABLE query for each table.
