Updated now with the API suggested by @pwendell. I found a way to do this
without having to make any changes to Spark core. I also added a bunch more
API docs for the new interface. Unfortunately, I can't seem to login to update
the docs linked above as the millennium cluster seems to be down and my eecs
credentials aren't valid any more?
