This would be an incompatible interface change (which is why tests needed
to be modified !).
Better would be to allow override with the max core config while keeping
default (if unspecified, num threads to 1).
Btw, Runtime.getRuntime.availableProcessors() can return varying values
(vm's) includes ht cores, etc ..
