Yeah, let me look through this -- it may be too big a change to add to 1.0
now, though it may be worth adding it as an experimental API. In the worst case
though, 1.1 will probably be 3 months after, so it's not too bad.
The test that failed is currently flaky, it might not be due to your
changes.
