Hi @hellertime,
A really good use-case for this PR has just cropped up at #4720; I think
that the `--foreground` flag will make it easier to write tests for certain
components, such as the Hive ThriftServer. Do you think that you'll have time
to work on this PR? If not, we can take it over.
