I do not think this is worth the complexity. It introduces a new class of
subtle problems, I think. For example, as you see, leaving around `.abnormal`
files will confuse some processes trying to parse them in Hadoop. This does not
seem to achieve the aim of distinguishing 'abnormal' cases since it is still
possible to not successfully rename the file.
