Going once going twice for final comments as I'd like to resolve this one
and move on. Right now it's two mild thumbs up, one thumbs down, and a neutral
(?) from @rxin who is probably most authoritative here. There's not obvious
consensus to make this change, and unless that changes or I misunderstand, I
think we should soon resolve as WontFix. I think there are not-too-bad ways to
access this from Java anyway if it matters.
