I don't know a lot about this code, but based on the description and fix,
it looks reasonable. Since Sandy created the bit of code being modified, I
trust his review on this one. It looks like @sryza has a few outstanding
questions here. Once those are satisfied this is looking good.
Any other thoughts from YARN folk?
