@cloud-fan this seems like a different proposition though, not just
removing an unused member. What does making it a method accomplish? It seems
like you're suggesting reusing the existing value in more places, that's all.
Once it's clear if there should be a change like this, maybe you can open a
small JIRA and a new PR (or reuse this one), but either way this particular
change isn't to be merged right?
