It is really weird to have ExtBlock, ExternalBlock, ExtBlk, and
ExtBlk_ALL_CAP_CASE mixed all together.
Can you just rename everything to ExternalBlockStore, and if you need to
shorten the name in some local scoped variables and function names, just call
it externalStore?
