Looks like on both environments I'm running exactly the same versions of
Java (1.7.0), Scala (2.10.4) and maven (3.2.1). This suggests that it does have
something to do with RedHat, which seems to be a potential problem only for HDP
clusters (they only support RedHat / SUSE). A workaround is to manually copy
the jars over, as @tgravescs and I have done.
