For me, the API URL path and the knowledge on how to read the response are also dependencies with Confluent SR. The change is just to support Confluent SR, and I don't see any difference compared to have a direct dependency. Such dependency is even being added to the SQL module. That said, if our consensus for supporting Confluent SR is not positive, I'm not positive with this change.
