It's just a historical factor. IMO, I believe that we need to replace it to `zstd-jni`. > Does it make sense to use aircompressor for ZSTD in ORC, rather than the zstd-jni? Yes, `aircompressor` is behind and also has ZSTD bug. That's the reason why the community (not only Apache ORC, but also Presto) complains at the new version of aircompressor. - https://github.com/airlift/aircompressor/issues/122 BTW, please note that your PR is merged to Apache ORC 1.7 which has no release plan yet. The situation is the same for the other community. Apache Kafka with ZSTD 1.5? Apache Avro with ZSTD 1.5? Apache Parquet with ZSTD 1.5?
