One subtlety is that TimSort calls `allocate()` to create the data buffer
but it doesn't call any corresponding cleanup method. If it's okay to defer
all cleanup until the end of the sort, then we can track our allocations and
free them all at once. If we want to clean up during the sort, though, I think
we'll have to extend TimSort to perform this cleanup.
