I am leaning more towards the first idea. I kind of feel exposing `CatalogPlugin` via `spark.catalog` changes the original semantics of `Catalog`: the `Catalog` interface is a single global catalog, whereas the the V2 `CatalogPlugin` supports multiple metadata catalogs such as `TableCatalog`, `FunctionCatalog`, etc. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
