Hi all, I had a discussion with @pwendell offline about this patch. At this
point it would seem too late to put it into the 1.4 release since it is a new
feature that hasn't gone through a ton of review from the community or
committers. I think it would be a great addition to 1.5 after spending some
more time testing it.
