Just an update for you, @dcoliversun . Apache Spark community is still focusing on 3.3.0 release. (RC2 vote seems to fail and RC3 vote will start.) This PR is not under full review yet because of the nature of intrusive refactoring patterns. We will revisit this after 3.3.0 release. At that time, we will discuss about the tradeoff between the increased maintenance cost due to this PR and the benefit.
