Since these are valid values I believe it would be a very awkward user experience to return a sketch estimate of 0 if, say, you have a column with just empty binary values. I was thinking that maybe we could overcome this limitation of the DataSketches library by the following trick: * For binary values you consider the extended byte array where the first 4 or 8 bytes is the length of the array and the remaining ones are the input value. * For a long or int array you consider an expanded array where the first value is the number of elements in the array. WDYT? This approach will not mess up distinct values. This understand that what I propose will incur an overhead because we would have to modify every single input before feedback my it to the DataSketches library. By the way, when the input value is an empty string and you pass this string to the library (forget about collation manipulation), what does the library do?
