I generally believe we shouldn't remove an old API until we've built a place for people to migrate too. If this was a true deprecation (log probably or warn at compile time but not possible since shared with regular datasets) with a replacement coming soon vs raising an exception I'd be more up for it. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
