stevomitric opened a new pull request, #58989:
URL: https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/58989

   ### What changes were proposed in this pull request?
Extends test coverage for nanosecond-timestamp implicit widening at the p=8
precision boundary, which existing tests skipped (they spanned only the
nanos(7)/nanos(9) pair):
     - TimestampNanosWideningSuiteBase - adds nanos(7) to(8) and nanos(8) to(9)
to the UNION ALL, coalesce, and binary-comparison tests.
     - timestamp-{ntz,ltz}-nanos.sql golden files - adds the same boundary as
UNION ALL typeof() + rendered-value cases.

   ### Why are the changes needed?
The p=8 boundary was the one untested precision pair; these cases lock that
widening resolves to the max precision and never floors.

   ### Does this PR introduce _any_ user-facing change?
   No. Test-only.

   ### How was this patch tested?
New sql and e2e tests in the PR.

   ### Was this patch authored or co-authored using generative AI tooling?
   Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.8
