Merged to master. It does not cherry-pick cleanly to `branch-4.x` because of the benchmark results files, so I opened a backport: #59039. The code is unchanged, and `branch-4.x`'s own `WholeStageCodegenSizeBenchmark-results.txt` is regenerated there with JDK 17. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
