@witgo I'm not sure what you are trying to say in above comment, but if you
meant "only string formatting is different, the underlying floating-point
representations are the same", I suspect it's more than that. Consider this, if
your approach works, it also represents a way to implement ```take``` and
```drop```. Why not contribute it to Scala as a fix for
https://issues.scala-lang.org/browse/SI-8518?
