On the versioned DSv2 decision: leaving that path out of this PR so we do not change behavior after approval. Comments now describe the current rule (drop the marker only when the relation attribute already has none; a refresh rebind that re-stamps keeps it). Added the missing standard-semantics + read-side padding off prune case.
