Thanks @uros-b for the review! 1. Casts from VARIANT now follow the same rule. 2. Migration note widened to the cast spellings, to combining the result with another implicit collation (`||`, `COALESCE`, `CASE` give an indeterminate collation that fails when compared or stored), and to `DEFAULT COLLATION`, where an explicit `'STRING COLLATE UTF8_BINARY'` target now stays UTF8_BINARY. 3. Confirmed for `JSON_VALUE` / `JSON_QUERY ... RETURNING STRING COLLATE`: `collation()` reports UTF8_LCASE but `= 'open'` is false, and the analyzed plan has the same cast back to UTF8_BINARY. Keeping it out of this PR. Rule boundaries are pinned too: `ARRAY<STRING>` target against a UNICODE_CI column, a collated path argument (`'$.s' COLLATE UNICODE`), and the explicit UTF8_BINARY target under a default collation. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
