As this branch does not allow edits by maintainers, it continues in #249, which keeps your commits and adds the merge with master and the review changes: the storage is read through pandas' public API instead of its block manager, the table goes to the Arrow importer so that large frames are uploaded rather than sent inline, and it works on pandas 2.2.
