FYI, this is still failing the toUpper/Lower bug mentioned in
https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/7197#issuecomment-119015425; just wanted
to leave a comment so we don't merge it prematurely w/o deciding whether to fix
this or defer to a followup / choose to adopt different semantics.
