    I think I would start by writing some code that looks at the actual size of 
the closures that end up getting shipped for a variety of queries to see if 
this is really a problem.  Then if we are going to do this, we should have 
tests that have thresholds on these sizes so that we don't just reintroduce all 
the outer points with other work.
