so you don't think we should consider just completely skipping resetting
the accumulators, and just always initializing the `internalAccumualtors` right
away, since that extra complication doesn't serve a purpose? simpler behavior
would be less prone to other unintended bugs ... especially when we change the
DAGScheduler
