    @rxin I don't think so. The `null` appeared in 
    
    ```
    INSERT INTO t SELECT NULL 1, 2
    ```
    
    will be casted to the type of the first column defined in table `t`. And 
you can't create a table with a column of null type:
    
    ```
    In [1]: sqlContext.sql("CREATE TABLE t AS SELECT null, 1")
    
    ... org.apache.spark.sql.types.DataTypeException: Unsupported dataType: 
void. ...
    ```
