    BTW, if you really want to implement a shared policy, I'd recommend adding 
something like `scala.util.control.NonFatal`. That makes the exception handling 
cleaner; it would look more like this:
    
        try {
          // code that can throw
        } catch {
          case IgnorableException(e) => logDebug(...)
        }
