@GraceH the issue with changing the public API is that it breaks binary
compatibility. Users would have to recompile their apps that use the API for
them to work.
You can avoid that two ways: not exposing the new functionality in the
public API, or adding an overloaded method that takes a non-optional boolean
value. Currently I think that for end users the new argument is not very
useful, so I'd just leave the public API as is.
