re the first question - I don't think this necessarily needs to be a code
generated param (although if we do end up having more shared params with
templated types we should definitely do codegen). For now maybe just a hand
written HasInitialModel seems fine (although I'd put it in a separate file
rather than tacking it on the end of the generated code) - but thats just my
personal thoughts. Maybe @dbtsai can chime in too?
