It was changed to 3.1.1 actually but there is a request to change to 3.1.2
hence the JIRA was reopened.

The R version used by Jenkins seems to be 3.2.x (can't remember clearly).
There is a JIRA requesting using R 3.1.1,
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-11255, but it is not fixed.
