Hi Andrew,
Thanks for looking at this; it will take me some time to context-switch
these back in and make the necessary updates, though.
Regarding my open PRs, SPARK-2169 is independent of the others and should
be pretty straight-forward. The other two don't really have an order - they
just conflict with each other, so once one is in I'll need to fix the other.
Regarding the "app id" question, I think the app ID is a cluster-specific
concept. I think it's a little sketchy to let the framework create some ID when
the cluster manager doesn't do it - and I'm especially wary of using timestamps
for that. It's probably better to let the affected parties (e.g. the history
server) decide what's the best approach when an application does not have a
cluster-provided ID.
