@xwu0226 this look interesting. I will try to get to this in the next
couple of days.
The thing I am really worried about is performance. Could you please add
benchmarks, comparing the old and new situations. See
https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12745984/perf_test3.scala as a
starting point.
