As far as I know, macros currently aren't used for catalyst reflection and
as you point out, would likely fail anyway for user defined types.
The question is if macros are planned to be supported in the future, in
that case I think the best approach would be to refactor the way UDTs are
created. I guess @cloud-fan and @marmbrus know more about that
