I'm not very against it (though Maven should ideally change to check style
as well on 'pre-compile'). I remember someone arguing that they didn't want to
have to pass all style checks every time they compile a WIP patch locally and
so didn't want them to be forced for every compile. It's an argument to
consider, or at least, why it works this way now.
