Quick question: Since we are really close to Spark 2.0 this is probably
too big of a change to merge into `branch-2.0` (though @rxin should probably
make that call). However, even though this is an experimental API, it would be
nice to including this new version if we think thats the long term plan for
this extension point.
Is there some minimal version of this that add just the new API, but still
just finds one plan? We could put that in `branch-2.0` and this PR into
`master`.
