Thanks for the PR (with a great description)! FYI review on a big new
feature may need to wait until 2.0 QA is done.
Also, @mengxr @avulanov have discussed regression before, and IIRC it was
unclear if there were many use cases relative to classification. It may make
sense to focus on merging improvements to classification first, though please
push back if you can cite some use cases. Thanks!
