    @mridulm , I don't think that your statement is correct. 
`SynchronizedCollection` is protected by
    `         final Object mutex;     // Object on which to synchronize
    `
    
    If you look at the constructor you will see that
    `            mutex = this;
    `
    
    Does that make sense now?
