I'm still seeing the torrent of `CorruptStatistics` errors in the Jenkins
build log, even though I don't see them running the tests locally with sbt.
Maybe it's a maven versus sbt build issue.
Anyway, having spent a few hours trying to get a reliable, effective unit
test for this functionality, I don't think it's going to happen.
Can you guys let me know if you have a blocking concern around this PR?
Otherwise, can we please merge this to master? I'm reluctant to spend more time
on this.
