So if we had started from clean slate I'd say it might be good to do. But
given the size of the pull request it will create a lot of conflicts in
backporting patches, and I doubt any of the locations are performance sensitive
(unlike Java, our logging only generates the strings if the logging
functionality for that level is turned on). If we can find a location that is
actually perf sensitive then it's definitely worth fixing that one.
