The staging directory and files will not be removed when users hitting
abnormal termination of JVM. In addition, if the JVM does not stop, these
temporary files could still consume a lot of spaces. Thus, I think we need to
backport it. However, I am not sure whether we should backport it to all the
previous versions (2.1, 2.0 and 1.6)
