Well, I mean, this is our attempt to tell people what happened:

execBackend.statusUpdate(taskId, TaskState.FAILED, ser.serialize(reason))
```
We cannot expect that this logic was already called once, I believe,
because the executor may enter shutdown mode based on a different thread
receiving an OOM.
