Github user srowen commented on the issue: https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/17527 I reverted the changes to UTF8String, StopWordsRemover, and Tokenizer. The rest look like either purely internal string-insensitive comparison, excepting operations on database table and column names. I wonder if those need to be Locale-sensitive or not? it is not a question of input a user program may process in that case, but of the user's application and data schema itself.
