I do have a local branch with, I think, most of the key changes. I do want
to unblock that work. But that's a little separate. Really I'm just narrowly
arguing here that this change doesn't make it meaningfully harder to keep 2.10
working in older branches. It's no harder than it was previously, and I'm happy
to keep an eye on it if anyone's concerned.
