@holdenk, would you mind if I ask leave some comments on the changes here
if it doesn't sounds too demanding? I generally trust you but it'd be great if
some reasons are left here and I can double check those. I am a bit confused of
few changes, for example, why `SPARK_VERSION=$SPARK_PACKAGE_VERSION` should be
removed.
