@vanzin @cloud-fan if this actually does resolve the stack trace now
mentioned in https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-21033 then I can at
least vouch for this one being a problem I've hit repeatedly. If this is a
clean improvement, I'd favor getting it merged.
