@etrain just curious, are your comments mainly from the POV of writing new
operators or are they from the POV of using the interface? I think that for 1.2
we should just make sure the user-facing interface is what we want, and get
feedback on it from users. After that we can design better developer
interfaces. It seems the one major issue you had there is runtime
type-checking, which would partly be alleviated by better error messages
(though they'd still be at runtime).
