dan-blanchard edited a comment on issue #18139: [SPARK-20787][PYTHON] PySpark can't handle datetimes before 1900 URL: https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/18139#issuecomment-454141515 This is not fixed in Python 3. `time.mktime` cannot handle dates before 1900. With Python 3.7: ``` In [15]: time.mktime((1900, 1, 14, 14, 57, 28, 0, 14, 0)) Out[15]: -2207793752.0 In [16]: time.mktime((1899, 1, 14, 14, 57, 28, 0, 14, 0)) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- OverflowError Traceback (most recent call last) <ipython-input-16-68ea24027fd4> in <module>() ----> 1 time.mktime((1899, 1, 14, 14, 57, 28, 0, 14, 0)) OverflowError: mktime argument out of range ``` This PR is still very much needed.
